We’re lucky enough to get to partner with our neighboring wranglers for a wide range of exclusive horseback riding adventures through some of our area’s most highly sought-after trails. The team at Smith Station Stables takes you back to a simpler time at the historic Birch Ranch, adjacent to Firefall Ranch.

Explore the surrounding wilderness in much the same way as the Sierra Nevada’s first explorers. You’ll enjoy the rich sights and sounds of the forest, and you might even make a new friend in your trusty four-legged companion. Choose from 30 minute to one hour riding adventures throughout the day.

Nestled at the gateway to Yosemite, our stables offer an authentic and scenic trail ride experience like no other.

A Historic Location with Timeless Beauty

Smith Station Stables is located at the historic Birch Ranch, a site rich in history as a former cattle ranch and stage stop. Today, it serves as the perfect backdrop for a serene and immersive horseback riding experience, allowing guests to reconnect with nature while riding through stunning landscapes.

Ride Options & Pricing

From April 15th to November 30th (exact dates may vary), Smith Station Stables at Firefall Ranch invites you to embark on an unforgettable horseback riding adventure.  Note that all rides begin and end at Firefall Ranch.

Guided Trail Rides

• 1-Hour Ride – $95 per person
• Available daily from 8 AM to 7 PM
• Ages 7 and up
• Trip times subject to availability

 

Pony Rides for Young Riders

• 30-Minute Ride – $30 per person
• Available daily from 8 AM to 7 PM
• Perfect for children ages 3-6
• Trip times subject to availability

 

All riders must check in at the Firefall Ranch reception desk at least 30 minutes before their reserved ride time.

Important Riding Information

We strive to accommodate all guests and can provide support for some disabilities upon request—please call ahead to discuss your needs.

• Minimum Age: 7 years old for trail rides; 3-6 years old for pony rides

• Maximum Weight: 250 lbs
